Archival history
When the archive development project began in October 2014 a large volume of material that had not been previously comprehensively catalogued was inherited. Since there was uncertainty about the years of acquisition it was decided that the archive would be catalogued as if it had just been donated. The year of donation was thus 2014 for all materials.
In the majority of cases, information regarding the creator of the records had been lost. The archive had also evolved into a number of distinct collections based on material type. It was decided to use these collections as the top level organisational principle in the cataloguing process to reflect the way in which the archive had developed. It has been possible to tentatively reconstruct bodies of material originating with one indivudual or corporate entity; these have been listed as sub-series rather than fonds in order to reflect this uncertain archival process.
The collections are:
2014/001 - genealogy collections
2014/002 - thematic lever arch files
2014/003 - hard copy photographs and documents
2014/004 - audio and audio-visual materials
2014/005 - digital photographic collections
